(100 Most Influential People in the World),名单中的年轻人和女性比例大幅上升,入选百大人物多达45人是女性,更有45人年龄不足40岁,均是历来最多。

  日前获得普立兹奖公共服务奖(Pulitzer Prize for Public Service)、揭发荷里活製片人温斯坦(Harvey Weinstein)性丑闻的3名《纽约时报》(New York Times)和《纽约客》(New Yorker)记者亦入选。

Raising voices of young people and women

The U.S. newsmagazine Time released its annual list of the"100 Most Influential People in the World"recently, featuring a rising proportion of young people and women - including 45 women and 45 people under 40 years-old. Among those on the list, the 14-year-old child actress Millie Bobby Brown has become the youngest person ever to get featured.

The editor-in-chief of Time, Edward Felsenthal, described that the way of having an influence is changing, and age and location are becoming less critical in the traditional power structures.

The top 100 characters this year are put into 5 categories, namely "Pioneers", "Artists", "Leaders", "Icons" and "Titans". The magazine has also set six special issue covers, highlighting the famous actresses of Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez and Tiffany Haddish, the Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, the tennis star Roger Federer and the"#MeToo"activist Tarana Burke.

Youngest ever person to be named

Millie Bobby Brown rose to fame by playing the role of"Eleven"in the American drama Stranger Things two years ago, and was then followed by over 16 million users on the social networking platform Instagram. Making use of her popularity, she devoted herself to eliminating bullying at schools last year.

The actor Aaron Paul wrote an appreciation of Brown for Time, describing her as an "extraordinary" actress who had shown great wisdom despite playing drama at only 12. He thought that"A wise woman was speaking from her cherubic face, and she had displayed in-depth understanding about human behavior as if she had lived for a thousands of years."

School shooting survivors on the list

Other candidates include the 5 survivors of the high school shooting happened in Florida in February this year. They later initiated the"NeverAgain"campaign requesting for tightening gun control measures.

The former U.S. President Barack Obama wrote a tribute in Time, saying that he was deeply moved and inspired by their innocence and courage to break away from conventions.

The 3 journalists of the New York Times and the New Yorker who shared the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for exposing the Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein's misconduct of sexual harassment are also on the list. Ashley Judd, the actress who accused Weinstein of sexual assault, spoke highly of the 3 reports for demonstrating the power of journalism with their detailed investigations, which subsequently brought about the"#MeToo"movement.

The political leaders appearing on the list include the Chinese President Xi Jinping, the U.S. President Donald Trump, the French President Emmanuel Macron and the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Yet, the England's Queen Elizabeth II, who recently celebrated her 92nd birthday, was not on the list. The selected members of the British Royal Family turned out to be Prince Harry and the future princess consort Meghan Markle.■庞嘉仪
